Kewpie Dolls made their debut in 1909 as illustrations in the Christmas issue of Ladies Home Journal in the USA. Drawn by illustrator Rose O'Neill, the illustrations were soon bought to life as real figurines, and were extremely popular in the early 1900's.
They were one of the first mass produced toys, with the early dolls made of bisque (procelain) and then celluloid.
Our adorable modern Kewpie dolls are made in Japan, and come in two sizes - 20cm and 10cm.
They are both pictured to show the difference in sizes.
They retain the same cute features as their antique ancestors for a whole new generation to enjoy!
The arms are movable on the small Kewpies!
